About Ian A. Stevens
Ian A. Stevens – Founder, CAP Studios
“Take a Risk and Make a Difference”
Ian A. Stevens represents the fourth generation of a proud family legacy in the film industry. His great-grandfather and grandfather served as literary consultants at MGM, overseeing scripts during Hollywood’s golden age. His father and uncles worked in sound and special effects, contributing to the iconic sci-fi films of the 1950s and ’60s.
Ian’s own journey began at just four years old, when he played the young prince in The King and I in San Francisco (1962). From there, he built a robust early career in stage productions and television commercials while also excelling in high school athletics, including track and football.
As a young adult, Ian toured nationally with celebrated productions such as Jesus Christ Superstar, Evita, Cats, and Fiddler on the Roof. He honed his craft at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Pasadena, balancing his formal training with acting work in TV spots for McDonald’s and KFC. His film and music video credits include Stripes, The Outsiders, St. Elmo’s Fire, and a standout appearance as a dancing zombie in Michael Jackson’s Thriller.
Ian transitioned into production through an internship at Universal Studios Hollywood in 1988. He began his producing career as a line producer on L.A. Law and continued as a floater producer for popular TV shows such as Coach, Major Dad, The New Lassie, Charles in Charge, and early Adam Sandler projects like Billy Madison.
In the early 1990s, Ian also contributed to local cable television in Pasadena and briefly interned at L.A.’s smooth jazz radio station KTWV 94.7 The Wave. Throughout his career, he was mentored by Academy Award-winning director Sydney Pollack, whose guidance helped shape Ian’s multidimensional approach to production.
Ian’s recent work continues to garner acclaim. His comedy short The Challenge received an Honorable Mention for Best Comedy Short at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival. As executive producer alongside David Siracusa, Ian earned multiple awards for the documentary series UnCivil War: America Divided, now streaming on Amazon and gaining national attention.
Currently in post-production, Ian’s latest feature Velvet Hammer has already drawn strong prescreening buzz, pointing to potential success in television syndication. He is also developing two new projects: Nocturnal Spiritoe and Rescue Innocence.
At the heart of Ian’s work is CAP Studios, where he fosters an atmosphere of creativity, fun, and professionalism—what he proudly calls “the playground.” Whether on set or in the studio, Ian leads with passion and purpose, a philosophy that leaves every cast and crew member smiling.
Surrounded by his two children, Jeffrey and Lacey—who represent the fifth generation of his family in the business—Ian continues to lead CAP Studios with integrity and vision, determined to create meaningful stories that inspire and resonate.
